Kevin Greenleaf has been the Environmental Director of the Kootenai Tribe located at Bonners Ferry, Idaho since 2006. The department conducts PM 2.5 monitoring and collects meteorological data on the reservation for assisting regional agencies with air quality decisions as well as submitting data to the EPA AQS database. Other programs carried out by the Environmental Department include pesticide drift monitoring, recycling, hazardous substance tracking and coordination with federal, state and local governments regarding treatment of the Kootenai Sub-Basin water bodies and land use impacting aboriginal rights to natural resources. The Tribe also operates a Kootenai White Sturgeon hatchery to try and recover the fish populations of this listed endangered species. They work with the ISDA, Boundary County, IDEQ, USFWS and British Columbia, Canada, in efforts to control Eurasian Watermilfoil in the Kootenai River. Kevin worked in the environmental area since 1996 for private industry as an environmental manager for compliance and permitting supervisor. His past work experience includes horse logging, oil field worker, the forest service and 30 years in the timber industry. He graduated as a forester in 1973. He also enjoys fishing and creating period furniture. |
