Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe

As the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe’s Environmental Deputy Director, Brandy assists in overseeing the Band’s Environmental Programs including: Air, Water, GAP, Superfund alongside sustainability and planning. Prior to her promotion in 2016, she built and managed Leech Lake’s Air Quality Program as their Air Quality Specialist since 2001.  Brandy has led the Leech Lake Air Program in obtaining and implementing a variety of air quality projects and funding for: TAS, indoor air quality, radon, alternative energies/conservation, diesel retrofitting, along with multiple ambient air monitoring projects (PM 1:6 and a BAM, Dioxins, Wet Dep Mercury and Mercury Speciation and Meteorological).  Brandy is actively involved in rule/policy promulgation on local, state and federal levels, as well commenting on permits affecting the Leech Lake and Indian Country as a whole.  Brandy also participates on a number of local, regional, and national organizations along with many national workgroups and boards.  In 2012 she was awarded the Virgil Masayesva Excellence Award recognizing her contributions to the protection of air quality, health and the environment throughout Indian Country.
